Hualalai GC at the Four Seasons

Another beautiful day starting off with bkfst at my new favorite spot on the beach.  Had dinner at the restaurant next door last night. This was the view at sunset.

After breakfast, headed over to Hualalai GC, a Nicklaus design that is much better than his usual.  I had never heard of the course and was VERY pleasantly surprised by how interesting and beautiful it is. I played with Jon Savage (a friend from Querencia) and a friend of his, Tony Brewer who is a former MLB player.

We had a great time and although I was down quite a bit in our skins game after a smooth 45 on the front 9, I rallied on the back with a really solid 39 (and that with an out-of-bounds tee shot on #14).

This is a picture of one of the interesting par 5's where the second shot is over a wall of lava!

It was VERY windy today; at least 3 clubs on some holes. This is a picture of a 217 yd Par 3 which played directly into the wind. I smoked a 3-wood with a soft draw that started out right of the green, and ended up 9 feet from the hole! Maybe my best shot ever!

#17 is probably the prettiest hole, playing right down to the ocean. Surf crashing in the background was drowned out by my shout when my 40 ft putt dropped in for a birdie!

After golf it was time to head to the airport and my flight to Honolulu. Tomorrow morning it's off to Tokyo where I'll meet up with the rest of the group.

This was the view from the checkout desk at the Four Seasons. Still not sure why I left!!

Aloha!
