Well, I've never experienced golf among the Cherry Blossoms before, and it is beautiful!
We all arrived safely and on time yesterday into Tokyo, arriving from Honolulu, Toronto, Detroit and Los Angeles. The only casualty was Richard's clubs which United decided could wait a day before joining up with us!
To be closer to the golf courses, we decided to stay outside of Tokyo thus saving the 1.5 hour drive every morning. This might have been a mistake as the "best" hotel we could find out here was quite disappointing. In fact, I'm writing this blog post in a neighborhood Starbucks as the hotel doesn't even have WiFi!
The golf, however, was fantastic! Tokyo GC was founded about 100 years ago although it is now in its third location. It is very exclusive with membership costing almost $1MM US!

The gang had a great time and decided on a week-long series of 6-hole matches to decide the winner of the Japan Tour. The score after Day 1 is:
- Durham: 2/0/1
- Cecil: 1/1/1
- Slater: 1/1/1
- Rathbone: 0/2/1
Plenty of golf left to play!
Tomorrow we play Kasumageseki which is right next to TGC. After golf we have along trip via bullet train to Osaka.
